Scalar Data
Acquisition Products are powerful and flexible autonomous networked data
acquisition systems for either Industrial PC or CompactPCI
platforms. The systems are based upon a standard x86 compatible system running
Linux™ and are designed to operate in a networked environment over a 10/100
Base T Ethernet Link. Software control and data handling is done over standard
TCP-IP sockets making the data available to any authorised computer on the
same network. The data server running on the Scalar data acquisition system
allows multiple concurrent connections. This allows sophisticated management
features to be built into client applications such as having multiple
monitoring clients in addition to a control client. Dynamic web pages allow
easy access to machine status from any connected web browser.
With the use of
standard PC components the acquisition system can be configured with a
customer specified arrangement of memory, Hard Disk, Floppy Disk, CDR/W and
any specific networking requirement. In addition to this a diskless
implementation is available to allow operation in rugged environments.
Scalar provides
reference client applications for popular Windows™ operating systems and
Linux™ environments to control the acquisition system.
We recognise
that there is a need for a range of customer specific requirements for
communication and have built this into the software architecture. This means
that both additional physical and software protocols can be added; allowing
customer requirements to be met with minimum development using industry
standard adaptor cards and the wide range of communications software available
for the Linux™ operating system for tight synchronisation.
Multiple
systems can be configured together to increase channel count by using
dedicated high speed digital I/O.
Scalar
acquisition systems can be supplied to customers with full source code under
GPL, including an open source Linux driver, giving assurance of full control
of system configuration.
